Five Questions I No Longer Fear

There was a time when I thought faith meant having answers. Or at least having enough answers to feel confident. Enough answers to quiet the questions. Enough answers to make uncertainty disappear.

But life has a way of humbling us. The older I get, the more I realize that some questions never completely go away. What changes is our relationship with them.

Here are five questions I no longer fear. Not because I have fully answered them. But because I have learned they can be companions rather than enemies.

1. Why do some prayers seem unanswered?

I used to think this question threatened faith. Now I think it reveals how deeply we care. Every person who prays eventually wrestles with this mystery.

2. Why do I still have doubts? Perhaps because faith and certainty are not the same thing. Perhaps because faith is trust, not proof.

3. Why do people suffer?

I have sat beside too many hospital beds and too many grieving families to pretend I have a neat answer. But I have discovered that God's presence often matters more than explanations.

4. Who is Jesus, really?

This question has grown larger, not smaller, over the years. And strangely, that has made him more compelling rather than less.

5. What comes next?

For ourselves. For those we love. For the world. For faith. For the church. I still wonder.

And perhaps wonder itself is not such a bad place to begin. I've come to believe that questions are not evidence that faith is failing. Sometimes they are evidence that faith is growing.

Questions invite us to keep listening. To stay curious. To remain open. And perhaps most importantly, they remind us that God is always larger than our understanding.

So this week, I'd love to hear from you:

What is one question you no longer fear?

Or perhaps:

What is one question you are still learning to live with?

You don't need to have an answer. Sometimes naming the question is enough.
